Fly away with us
Glad that you found your way back to the Travelsauria blog
This is going to be a special article, not necessarily because of its content but of the place where we are writing from: right above the Atlantic Ocean.
That's right, dear readers. At this particular moment, we are crossing the Equator and flying for the first time in our life to the southern hemisphere. As you can imagine, it’s a huge step (or actually a long flight) and hopefully is going to be a great adventure.
Our feelings are a mix of natural fears and overwhelming excitement, we can’t wait to explore the rough beauty of the South American continent. And soon we will write about never-ending bus rides, hidden tent-pitching spots, alternative hiking trails, cheap street food experiences and hitchhiking lifts. In a few hours we will land in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil but before talking about the Carioca State, let’s take a step back together and have a closer look at what really moves us.
Me, Fabio, and Johanna met on a legendary house party two years ago and immediately started to share a passion we had in common: travelling. Still in Berlin, we began to take short time-outs from the stressful city, mainly by bike in the nearby nature, followed by trips and holidays for longer periods. But this was not enough!
Something bigger started to grow inside us, a real need of escape from the town and all its features, bad and good. At the same time, we both understood how deep humanity is negatively affecting our environment and how many people seem not to care about this topic.
We want to make this world a better place and that’s why we decided to take action. We quit our jobs, stopped making pizzas and serving drinks, left our cosy apartment in Berlin Mitte, gave up hobbies including a serious band project of Fabio and said goodbye to our friends and families. Now we are ready to start a travel that will bring us to South America, not only as tourists but as volunteers, willing to learn about different cultures and alternative ways of living.
Our motivation is to wander as long as possible around unconventional and “not touristic” places, working at rural farms and guesthouses and learning the most about permaculture, sustainable living (producing, selling, building, reusing), ecological agriculture and social projects.
Our dream is to open one day our own guesthouse, with a kitchen where to cook the biological products of our own small field and a common area where everybody can get their own free space of expression through music, poetry, theatre, books, movies, simple conversations, a beer or a glass of wine. It should be a place to share knowledge and experiences, where each of us can try to become better individuals.
Doesn’t such a place sound tempting to you? Maybe you will even like to be our guest. A big project like this will keep us busy for the upcoming years, requiring all our strength and determination and a lot of strong support from you.
So, please feel free to share our story with your friends, to ask us questions, to send us emails and to keep on followings us: we promise not to bother you so much, we are anyway on the other side of the ocean!
... Risk Curiosity ...

I’m so exited to hear about your experiences in South America!
